Weekend In Review – Chops, Overlays & Stars
The first Sunday of May had a little bit of everything, with Full Tilt Poker yet again requiring an overlay to match its guarantee and it was same all for UltimateBet and Bodog, with the former going down and the latter going up.
The PokerStars Sunday Million, back to its $200 buy-in version, did see a drop in attendance with 7,001 players creating a prize pool of $1,400,200.
When it came down to Iron Henry and Shanking You, both players decided to make a deal to secure at least $133,421. The extra $30k for first place ended up with Iron Henry who raked in the last pot to win a total of $163,421.
The $750,000 Guaranteed Tournament at Full Tilt Poker had the lowest crowd since September 9th, 2007. Only 3,546 players showed up creating a sizeable overlay of $40,800.
Heads up between billytk01 and LIAandTONYsDAD saw the former take control of the table to win the final pot and take home $132,788. DAD took home for Lia and Tony a still respectable $80,250.
A six week low was recorded at UltimateBet with their $200,000 Guaranteed Tournament attracting a mere 828 players. A substantial overlay of $39,200 was needed to match the guarantee.
Still, a $45,000 payday was up for grabs with JohnyCashOut coming out on top to cash out probably his biggest single day payday. Runner up spot went to mhrep who collected $27,000.
The Bodog $100,000 Guaranteed Tournament saw a turnout of 765 players, up a healthy 90 players from the previous week, but still had to pay $23,500 in overlays.
The good news for Bodog was that a bunch of online poker stars managed to reach the final table creating some buzz and excitement. The final two to survive was basebaldy and CobaltBlue with the former outlasting his opponent to collect first place cheque worth $23,600. CobaltBlue earned $13,600 for his efforts.
