Weekend In Review – Slow Turnout All Around
It was a fairly subdued weekend for most of the major poker rooms, with three of their flagship tournaments still witnessing overlays, and another one taking a tumble.
The PokerStars Sunday Million was the only tournament to reach its guarantee as the 7,254 players that showed up generated a prize pool of $1,450,800.
It was a bit of a surprise that no deal was made at the final table which saw UK player graslevy beat JTD DOG heads up, to claim a huge $204,562.80 first place cheque. Runner up spot handed JTD DOG a very respectable $103,006.80 cheque.
For the second week in a row, the Full Tilt $750,000 Guaranteed Tournament had a small overlay to deal with as only 3,707 players took part, creating an $8,600 overlay. That is a major improvement over last week when Full Tilt had to pay $39,800.
When it came down to heads up it was xPEOPLES CHAMPx Vs Rdgfish with the former delivering the final blow to his opponent to collect $132,788 for his efforts. Rdgfish took home $80,250 for finishing in second place.
The $200,000 Guaranteed Tournament at UltimateBet had a smaller player turnout than last week. This week 884 players participated, down from 907 the week before, meaning an overlay of $23,200 was required.
The eventual winner was taknapotin, who won $45,000 to take his online winnings from the start of 2007, to over half a million dollars.
It was the same story over at Bodog with another downturn in attendance. This week 711 entrants took part, down from 747 the previous week, meaning Bodog had to pay $28,900 to meet its guarantee.
The final race between rufrider and 69BossMustang had the former getting the checkered flag and $25,000 for finishing first.
