Multi-Tabling
There are some definite advantages playing online poker as oppose to playing live poker; although I firmly believe that the competition level is weaker when playing live poker. The advantages I am speaking of is the opportunity to see more hands within a hours time, poker games are running every single second, you can player online in the comfort of your own home, and of course you have the ability of multi-tabling. Multi-tabling opens a lot of doors for a poker player, and offers many benefits while doing so. On the flip side there is a negative when you choose to multi table. First let’s discuss the positive side for poker players who multi-table while playing online.
We all can’t be Havad Khan playing 26 tables at a time, but nonetheless the advantages for multi-tabling are still present. The first advantage that comes to mind is earning rake back while you play. By multi-tabling you are obviously increasing the rake you will receive whenever the time comes for you to get paid. By doing so if you happen to have a poor month at the tables your bankroll will be replenished by the extra rake back you earn. Not every website offers rake back programs, but there are plenty of sites out there that do. It’s defiantly worth checking out, because rake back can be a huge factor if you are deciding to multi-table sit n go tournaments.
Another advantage of multi-tabling is you are seeing more hands than you normally would. By seeing more hands, situations, and the different type of play; you are increasing your knowledge of the game that much quicker. Poker is like a job. If you want to make a difference in your play then you need to have some experience in order to be successful. Multi-tabling is the perfect way to gain that experience, and put you on the fast track to success when it comes to poker. This brings to mind another advantage, and that is you have a better opportunity of being successful in more poker tournaments.
It is very difficult to play one multi table tournament, and be fortunate enough to go on to win it. By increasing your tables you are giving yourself more opportunities at winning. If you take a bad beat in one or simply make a mistake, then you have other opportunities to salvage the day. Saying that brings to mind one final thought which is the is the ability to play different tournaments on different poker rooms. With the assumption that you have money on more than poker room that is. If poker room A has a tournament you want to play, and poker room B has a tournament you would like to play then you have the ability to do so. Some may think this a stretch, but you can’t play two tournaments from two different casinos at the same time. Just throwing it out there.
The one negative that comes with playing more than one table is the fact that you probably miss some information on your tables. That’s the advantage of playing one table. You have the ability to focus in and pick up tells on your opponents. When multi-tabling you may miss some information that will help you as you progress in a tournament. If you can master multi-tabling and still be able to pick all the information needed to win; then you have it made my friend. Good luck on the felt everybody.
