Further expansion for Harrah’s entertainment
After announcing a $2 billion development in the Bahamas Harrah’s, the world’s largest casino company, has announced two major projects in Europe.
The first is a Caesar’s casino resort, the El Reino de Quijote de la Mancha in Ciudad Real, Spain and the second is a joint venture with Slovenia’s Hit Group to develop a luxury casino resort in Nova Gorica.
If approved Caesars will be Spain’s – and Europe’s – first super casino resort. The plans so far accommodate for an 850 room luxury hotel, a 50,000 square foot casino, a 3,000 seat theater, a conference center, a 30,000 square foot spa and multiple restaurants, lounges and bars. Harrah’s and El Reino expect to invest around $670 million, hoping construction to start in late 2006.
The venture in Slovenia will be a 50/50 partnership with the HIT Group, Slovenia’s largest operators of casinos, with an expected investment of $700 million. The proposal is for the largest casino in the region and the only one to offer a full array of amenities with a conference center, spa, first-class dining, entertainment and retail attractions.
