Dublin hosts Charity EPT Tournament
Dublin, Ireland will once again host the unique charity poker event, Simon Poker Tournament, European Poker Tour (EPT). Already confirmed to appear at the beneficial poker tournament are snooker greats Joe Doherty and Steve Davis, the event takes place on the 3rd November 2007 at the RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.
The Simon Poker Tournament benefits the Simon Dublin homeless charity. More than 200 players turned out last year, combined with private and corporate donations to raises near €50,000. The event proved to be one of the most popular stops on the EPT circuit, drawing such names as Dave Colclough, Julian Gardner, Scott Gray, Stephen Hendry, Nick Leeson, Jesse May, Kevin O’Connell, Donnacha O’Dea, Matthew Stevens and “Mad” Marty Wilson.
John Duthie, head of the EPT revealed his anticipation, “We’re delighted to be associated with the tournament and I look forward to playing in it myself.” Then he quipped, “I just hope I can avoid Parkinson at the tables and in the bar!”
A host of European sports stars are expected to attend, along with last year’s winner and former World Champion Noel Furlong. To keep spirits high and cash flowing in, a high-octane auction will be run by the rollicking antics of “Mad” Marty Wilson.
Entry to the EPT Simon Poker Tournament is €300 + €30 (registration fee), with €100 going directly to the Simon Dublin charity, and the other €200 to the prize pool.
