Playing Online Poker: Weekends vs. Weekdays

My fellow poker friends and I have often discussed the difference between playing online poker on the weekends as oppose to the weekdays. Is there a difference in choosing whether or not to play on the weekend or a weekday? I personally believe there is a major difference, and I want to shed some lights on the factors that can come into play. Let’s dive in and not waste any time on why playing on the weekends may be more beneficial than playing throughout the week. This is especially important for the novice players that enjoying playing the game of poker.

When you sit down to play throughout the week the competition level defiantly increases as oppose to the weekend. I believe this because through the week you are likely going up against players that play poker for a living. I am aware that there are three different work shifts throughout the day, but it’s tough to squeeze a lot of poker in when you are working 40+ hours throughout the week. If you play throughout the week you will begin to notice the same players are playing the same tournaments, cash games, and sit n gos. Thus making it more apparent that they are true grinders, and that that they use poker to earn a living. If you don’t play poker for a living and you are not as experienced as the other players, then you may have a difficult time having a successful session. You can increase your chances by playing on the weekends, and leveling the playing the field. Let me explain.

In my opinion, you are increasing your chances of having a successful session when you play on the weekends. If you play on the weekends you will notice that the tournaments are bigger, the amount of players playing on the site defiantly increases, and it means that the fish have come out for a weekend swim. One may say that by playing in a bigger tournament they will have to go through a larger field in order to win a tournament. While this is obviously true there will be more opportunities for you to be sitting with players that have far less poker knowledge than you do. It’s no secret why there are more players playing on the weekend than throughout the week. It’s the weekend. People who work during the week play poker to kill time on the weekend, and they basically play just to play. Though the weekend will still have the normal weekly grinders, there will be more fish on every table.

Now I am not a professional poker player, but I have been playing poker for quite some time. I noticed these differences in play by playing sit & goes and multi-table tournaments. The weekend does in fact bring in the ‘casual player’, and if you are out to make money then it’s the perfect time for you do so. You will see loose calls that will blow your mind, and plays that will make you think you’re watching ‘Showdown’ at your local community picnic. Give the weekends the shot to see how they work for you, and let me know the results. I am very interested in seeing if this all in my head or if it’s a reality (which I firmly believe it is). Good luck at the tables everybody!
