David Singer Takes Home the 2007 Caesars Palace Classic
The final table of the Caesars Palace Classic started just after 3pm on Wednesday the 24th of October with Kido Pham and Tony Cousineau having the highest chip stacks followed closely by Scott Fischman and Justin Bonomo.
It would take only 20 hands before 4 players busted out leaving the final 5 players to battle it out. Next to be eliminated was Justin Bonomo in 5th position after his pocket threes run into Fischman’s pocket jacks.
Things slowed down a bit after that and it would be the 79th hand before we saw the next elimination. Tony Cousineau showed pocket kings to Kido Pham’s pocket queens. The board showed Queen, Nine, Seven, Ten and Two and Cousineau was out taking home $190,976 for his efforts.
In the 99th hand it was Fischman who went crushing after his pair of aces run into David Singer’s two pairs. Fischman received $245,540 for third place and Singer took a huge lead heading into heads-up with Kido Pham.
After Pham took a large portion of Singer’s chip early into heads-up, play slowed down significantly. It would be the 203rd hand of the final table and the 104th of the heads-up before the final hand was played.
Kido showed pocket kings and Singer was behind with Ace, Nine. The board came Ten, Eight, Five, Seven, Six giving Singer a straight and first place prize worth $1,000,000. Pham’s second place earned him a respectable $480,167.
