2007 World Series Of Poker Dates Announced
Although the full event schedule will not be released for another few weeks we can now confirm that next year’s World Series Of Poker will begin on June 1st, with the $10,000 Buy In Main Event starting on July 17th.
The Series will again be held at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino and a spokesman for Harrah’s Entertainment Ltd has stated they feel the new dates will increase the exposure for the players.
“The earlier dates will allow ESPN to televise the WSOP in the summer, avoiding the (Major League) baseball playoffs that can hurt ratings,” Thompson said. “The result will be wider exposure for the players and higher ratings for the programming.”
Thompson also said that Harrah’s has been in talks with the Players Advisory Council reviewing a proposed schedule they hope will make the Series much more appealing to the participants.
“The 2006 World Series of Poker was the best yet, but 2007 will be even better,” said World Series of Poker Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack. “As a first step, we’ve moved the start date up and now we’re developing an expanded and well-rounded schedule of events for 2007 that will appeal to both professionals and amateurs.”
